What to pack for a cottage stay
A useful packing checklist for a Rice Lake group getaway, with practical questions to ask before leaving home.
Check what is provided first
Read the current Airbnb listing and arrival message before packing. Confirm which linens, towels, toiletries and kitchen essentials are provided so you can avoid bringing duplicates.
Ask the host about any item that matters to your group rather than assuming every cottage supplies the same things. This is particularly useful for baby equipment, specialist cooking utensils and accessibility requirements.
Pack for the plans you actually have
Bring comfortable indoor clothes, layers for the forecast, suitable outdoor footwear, chargers and personal essentials. Add swimwear if you intend to use the hot tub, after confirming its availability.
Keep a small bag with the things you need on arrival: reservation details, medicines, a charger and an extra layer. It is easier than opening every suitcase while the group is settling in.
Coordinate food and shared supplies
Make one grocery list for the group. Include the first evening’s meal and the following breakfast so you do not need to organise a shopping trip as soon as you arrive.
Label any food that needs to be kept separate and plan around allergies and dietary requirements. Check available kitchen equipment before bringing ingredients for a meal that needs a specific appliance. A few straightforward meals are often easier than a complicated menu.
Plan carefully for younger guests
A crib is available in Bedroom 4, but confirm its setup and suitability with the host. Bring the child’s familiar sleep items and any other equipment the host has not confirmed.
The property is not described as childproof. Discuss supervision around stairs, outdoor areas and wellness amenities before arrival. Check the room photographs and layout when deciding where each household will sleep.
Share the arrival plan
Keep the host’s latest directions and access instructions handy. Confirm who will arrive first, how many cars are coming and which groceries each household is bringing.
At the villa, check-in is after 4 p.m., there are five driveway parking spaces and pets are not permitted. Review the current rules on Airbnb before leaving home, then share them with everyone in the group.
